Required information

Total weight 25kg = 2 x 12.5kg

Enter the total weight of the flap here. To determine the weight of an assembled flap, proceed as follows: Hold the flap horizontally and weigh the end facing you with the hinge side facing away from you. The total weight of the flap is twice the measured weight. Note: This method is only suitable for simple rectangular flaps.

Center of mass Explanation for: Center of mass

The application's center of mass refers to the pivot or hinge point.

For symmetrical flaps, the center of mass is located in the middle of the flap.

CAD programs enable precise calculation of the center of mass.

The more precisely the center of mass is determined, the more accurate the calculation can be.

Indicates the desired operating force or the maximum operating force. Up to 10 kg, the application can be operated several times in succession by anyone. At 20-30 kg, it is very difficult for one person to operate the application.

Enter the desired opening angle here (from fully closed to fully open).

Download our paper protractor or use your cell phone or tablet to measure the angle when closed and open.

Indicate the length of the flap. To do this, measure the side on which the pivot point is not located. (see illustration).

Please select the desired number of gas struts here. As a rule, we recommend using two gas springs - one on each side of the flap. Alternatively, it is also possible to use just one gas spring, although in some cases this can lead to the flap warping or not closing completely at the fastening point. To avoid this, the gas spring should be attached to the center of the flap.

Choose between steel and stainless steel here. The two stainless steel variants 304 and 316 differ primarily in their composition. 304 stainless steel is more sensitive to chlorides and acids, which can lead to (localized) corrosion. Stainless steel 316, on the other hand, offers greater corrosion and environmental resistance due to its special composition, especially in aggressive environments such as salty areas.

Gas springs made from 316 stainless steel are also characterized by their particularly high quality. They are equipped with a grease chamber that ensures even lubrication of the gas spring seal in every position and have a wiper that wipes dirt off the rod so that it cannot penetrate the gas spring.

Enter the thickness or height of your gas spring application in millimetres here (see illustration, the flap is shown here according to this thickness/height). If the flap has edges, please enter the height of these edges. This information is crucial for correctly calculating the flap's center of gravity and determining the optimum attachment point.

Distance from the pivot point to the application handle

Please indicate here where the hinge is located: Top, bottom or in the middle.

Please select whether it is a one-off or recurring requirement.

Gas spring pivot points

If the fixing points of the gas spring are known or fixed, please enter the values under Fixed point/loose point.

If the installation space for the gas springs is limited, please limit the available installation space by specifying the values in min. and max.
